Day 1136: Video Challenge Day 17: Seeing my Reflection in Horsemanship

I've been walking a path with horses for almost a decade and have learned many things about myself. One of the greatest gifts I have received from this path is being forced to look at myself in complete honesty in order to assess whether I have been living the expression I want to share with other beings.

Day 1135: Video Challenge Day 16: I Don't Have the Patience

I bet you've had that thought: "I don't have the patience for this right now" - as if patience is something that we can run out of and then have to go and stock up on again at the store. In truth, patience is something we must build, practice and develop for ourselves over time - it is a gift we give to ourselves.

Day 1134: Video Challenge Day 15: Have You Truly Forgiven?

How do you know if you've truly forgiven someone? Is forgiveness possible when you're holding the past against someone? What is real forgiveness?

Day 1133: Video Challenge Day 14: Destroyers or Guardians

As the "dominant species" on earth, we as humanity have the ability to shape and influence most of the lives around us. Nature is one of those things and unfortunately, nature is not as beautiful or magical as we often believe. Sometimes we have the opportunity to step in and support nature into a better expression of balance.

Day 1132: Video Challenge Day 13: The Flaws in Self Perception

When I was a child, there was a chicken pox scar on my face that I was really self conscious about. When I looked in the mirror, the scar was glaring back at me, larger than life. In reality, the scar was never very noticeable, but my perception of it was that it was huge. We seldom see the truth of ourselves - that coupled with being our own worst critics can create a very warped perception of ourselves.

Day 1131: Video Challenge Day 12: Terrible, Terrifying Change

Change is often scary, it shows us exactly how little control we have over our lives and exactly how quickly we can be forced out of our comfort zones. The funny thing is is that when we try to hold on to the past, we end up losing more. I have learned that being flexible and doing the best I can in any given time and place often gives me the greatest opportunities to learn more about myself, life and the people around me.

Day 1130: Video Challenge Day 11: Today I Faced Myself

When learning something new like video presentations, I must inevitably walk through the initial discomfort, self judgements, awkward experiences and sometimes even acting like an idiot in order to get comfortable enough to actually expand and grow within what I am learning. There were many moments in my life that I gave up on learning something new because I was so caught up in those initial experiences, but now I've decided that I'm going to give myself the opportunity to really learn something instead of falling prey to my thoughts.

Day 1125: Video Challenge Day 6: How Aware are we Really?

We go through life in 2 worlds, one within and everything around us. Sometimes we shift so much out of the world around us that we miss really obvious things, words and signs. How aware are you of what you see, hear, smell and touch?

Day 1124: Video Challenge Day 5: The Hardest Choice

If you have or do look after any animals in your life then you will almost certainly have to face the choice of euthanasia. Sometimes our beloved animal friends get sick or injured or aged to the point that we question whether their quality of life has deteriorated to the point that we need to help them pass on. This is the hardest choice. We must ensure that we make it for the animal and not for ourselves.

Day 1122: Day 3: The Resistance of "I don't know what to talk about"

As I was thinking about what topic to talk about for Day 3 I figured that that very experience I was in at that moment might just be the perfect thing to talk about!

Day 1121: Day 2 of Video Challenge: Resistance

Day 2 of my video challenge! When we fall out of a habit of doing something regularly, it can be quite difficult getting back into it again. We feel a heavy resistance to doing it and go through experiences that we just don't feel like it. In this video I share some of my personal experiences and thoughts on resistance.

Day 1120: Day One: Practice Makes Perfect

I've never liked being in front of the camera, but there are things I want to do that involve cameras, so this is Day 1 of "Getting Comfortable in Front of a Camera". Plans for the future include music videos and talks.

Day 1119: Seeking Parental Approval

Bernard made it a point to not validate me within my achievements when I was a child. At the time, I resented him for seeming to not take an interest into what I did, but looking back now I am grateful that he gave me the opportunity to find out what I enjoyed and how to do things for me, rather than for the approval of another.

Day 1118: Looking up even in the Hard Times

We all go through difficult times in our lives that threaten to overwhelm us. We all face things we don't really want to face. Things happen - and we just have to find a way through. Just because things get tough now and then doesn't mean that we should give up and stop trying. Look up, look ahead and start making your way through the hard parts.

Day 1117: The Value of your Health

We as humanity don't really know much about how our bodies work (and don't work), contrary to the appearance we tend to put on that we know everything about everything. Unfortunately coupled with this lack of knowledge is the current reality that healthcare is an industry and is primarily about making money and not about our good and long lasting health.

Day 1116: The Truth About Discrimination

Discrimination is one of those things that only exists because we all do it to some degree or another - the key is to take responsibility for all aspects and degrees of discrimination within ourselves.

Day 1115: Misunderstood

We often misunderstand each other by interpreting words or behaviour one way and then assuming that our interpretation is accurate. Effective communication is a skill that we are not born with, it is one that must be practiced - and the most important thing to do when practicing communication is to ask questions and not make any assumptions about what someone else means.

Day 1114: Make Your Plus 1 Count

There is no way that you or I could make a substantial difference in the lives of all the living beings who are suffering in the world, not on our own. As an individual I have a small effect in the bigger picture, but as many individuals, our voices can be heard above the din of the crowd. Make your addition to changing humanity (and therefore the world) count.

Day1113: Can't Talk, it's Taboo!

Why do we react so strongly to discussions about sensitive topics? Why are we so opposed to looking into the causes of our societal (and personal) issues? Why is the first response to discussing the causes around a "sensitive" topic anger and hatred? In order to change the issues we face in this life we must be willing to discuss them openly, honestly and objectively - in doing so we empower ourselves to understand the issues, what causes it, how it is perpetuated and from this we empower ourselves to develop holistic solutions that address the cause, rather than the symptoms.

Day 1112: Who is to Blame

Who is to blame for the way the system works? Who is to blame for poverty, drug abuse, crime, alcoholism and more? Why do we expect those who are most affected by social ills should be the ones who demand change?

Day 1111: I, me, we for Sale

We are all for sale in this world system. We're all selling different parts of ourselves. How much are you worth? How much does your value change when you and your family are hungry? We're all for sale, and the price tags are much lower that we imagined they could be in the fantasy of our youth.

Day 1110: In Love with Cruelty

In most areas of our lives, we tend to have a nasty streak that comes out and makes its mark on the people around us. Sometimes it seems to come out of nowhere and brings only shame, but often we say things to others or about others that make them feel bad and us feel good. Why are we so willing to be cruel to each other, especially if we stand to gain something?
