When I was a child, there was a chicken pox scar on my face that I was
really self conscious about. When I looked in the mirror, the scar was
glaring back at me, larger than life. In reality, the scar was never
very noticeable, but my perception of it was that it was huge. We seldom
see the truth of ourselves - that coupled with being our own worst
critics can create a very warped perception of ourselves.
