Day 1085: What of Life Matters

What life matters? All life matters. What is it within us that has created this divide between us - this divide that can be seen in so many different contexts, such as religion, race, culture, creed, income? In our perceptions of each other we reflect back to ourselves the truth of ourselves - who we are. Sometimes, who we are is not all that nice. Just as well then that we can change who we are to be better than who we were before.

Day 1084: Clash of Ideologies

There is something very wrong with how we are living in this world. We live together and yet could not be further apart. We each hold and cling to our personal beliefs and ideologies that we will defend to the death - and if you're in a position of power that is often exactly what happens.

Day 1083: Make Peace and Let Go

You cannot control the choices and actions of another person, even though you may really want to at times. However, control is not the answer - sometimes people must simply walk the path they choose for themselves to come to a point of being willing to look at themselves honestly and change. Make peace with that, and let go if the time ever comes to do so.

Day 1082: The Nature of Self Creation

How do we create ourselves, our experiences and our lives in every moment?

Day 1081: Until This is Done

Will those of us who are changing ourselves as humanity and so changing the world ever truly be "done" in this lifetime?

Day 1080: Farewell Dear

I digress from my usual post style to say goodbye to a friend I've never met, but will always remember. Rest in peace.

Day 1079: Celebrating Another Year Survived on Earth

Today is my birthday - the day that I celebrate the fact that I've somehow managed to stay alive for another year in a world that crushes hopes, dreams, creativity and the potential for fulfilling life's potential. The worst part is that life doesn't have to be this hard, we have the power to change life on earth for all living beings.

Day 1078: We are our own Worst Critics

No one will judge you more harshly than you judge yourself. To what standards are you holding yourself? Are you actually creating yourself in the way you want to by participating in these self judgements?

Day 1077: Are You Who You Want to be?

There are moments when we look back at our lives, where we look back at ourselves and we realise that we were not actually living the life or being the person we wanted to be. We lose ourselves in our thoughts and experiences, and within losing ourselves we forget to be the directive and creative force of ourselves and our lives.

Day 1076: You'll Never Change

We often hold each other hostage in the past, judging each other by saying that "you'll never change", or "that's just the way you are". At what point could we possibly say that someone is beyond the ability to change? If someone is trying to change themselves but you are standing on the sidelines, goading them to fail because that's what they always do then they are the ones who will have to work that much harder, because now they're working against all odds.

Day 1075: Desteni Movie Night: Battlestar Galactica

Wow what a fun hangout - my face hurt from all the laughing and goofy grins.

Battlestar Galactica is awesome - this we all know. What we convene to discuss live on air on this night (or day, whatever) is exactly HOW and WHY Battlestar Galactica is so amazeballs.

Day 1074: Breathing in Another Person

How can you practice standing in the shoes, seeing through the eyes and sharing the perspectives of another person?

Day 1073: Man Know Thyself

How much do you know of who you are and what you're feeling? Are you able to accurately identify every feeling and thought that moves within you? Can you claim to know yourself if you are not able to accurately and completely express, in words, every part of what you experience within you?

Day 1072: Reaching for the Impossible Ideal

When we look in on other people's lives we often see only what they want us to see: A perfect picture. We know within ourselves that that is not the real picture, but we fall into the trap of believing that it is and then compare ourselves and our lives to that fantasy we've been shown. Obviously it is an impossible ideal of perfection - no one is perfect and no one has the perfect life - but we all work so hard to make our lives appear to be so much better than they are. The incongruence within us at this contradiction of our real self as being imperfect and our ideal self (shown to the world) as being perfect creates immense stress and conflict within us.

Day 1070: Lost in the Symptoms

We tend to get lost in the experiences that overwhelm and envelop us, completely missing the simplicity of how we have CREATED and fueled those experiences.

Day 1069: Disconnected from Reality

We've become disconnected. Disconnected from each other, from ourselves and from the world around us. When we see or hear of something that happened, we process it through a barrier, that gives the event a far-away feeling, makes it impersonal. We are standing back and watching as the world is decimated all around us.

Day 1068: Willful Ignorance

What a beautiful world we have created where we have made MONEY our GOD and claim that we are powerless to change anything.

While the rest of the country rages back and forth debating whether or not trans individuals should be able to use one restroom or another, workers in poultry farm factories are being forced to wear diapers because the pace of their work doesn’t allow for bathroom breaks.

Day 1067: Will You Give up this Life

We will not be the same tomorrow as we are today. We all change and evolve over time - sometimes we devolve - but all of it is up to us. Bernard stood with me as I changed, as I grew from being a selfish teenager into who I am today. He asked me more than once if I would give up the life I wanted for this one life, so that we can create a future in which we all can live the lives we want. My answer is yes, I will give up whatever I have and do whatever I must - but it wasn't always thus.

Day 1066: The Debt System Within

The economic system of debt is in truth a reflection of who we are and how we live. Our relationships and interactions are based on the exchange of value - but it is not actually value - it is debt. Our actions are almost always governed by conditions, regardless of context. We offer our hand to help, but seldom do we do so without expectations of a repayment of our time and effort spent.

Day 1065: The Conspirator Within

Have a look at the nature of your mind - have a look at how your thoughts spin around. You see something, interpret it and then your thoughts start churning. From the smallest glimpse of information you can create a complete imagining of what it (must) mean. What's probably the most interesting part of this is that you believe your imagining completely and believe that that must be the only explanation.

Day 1064: Change Humanity and the World will Follow

We could design a perfect system that would create heaven on earth - but if we do not change who we are as a collective force of creation, then that perfect system will be tainted by who we are. If we are living as judgements, opinions, hatred, envy, anger, greed, ambition at all costs then those parts of what we are living WITHIN us will be manifested in what we are creating outside of ourselves. The only way to truly change the world is to first change who we are, so that our creation will reflect who we are as the best that we can be, rather than the monsters and demons that we allow to reside within our minds now.

Day 1063: Relationship Success Support: Relationship Personality

Why do we change ourselves when we meet someone new? Why do we seem to have this deep need to adapt and change ourselves in order to secure our partner's (and other people's!) approval, acceptance and love? How can we support ourselves to fill the holes inside us and develop self acceptance?

Thursday, May 5, 2016

Day 1062: Every Moment is a Choice

In every moment we make a choice. We choose who we are, what we say, what we think, what we do. We sometimes like to believe that we have no choice - but the choice is there and we keep making it.

Day 1061: Land of the Free

Is the "Land of the Free" really free? If a comfortable life is almost unattainable and the legal, political, economic (and on and on) systems are corrupt - then can we really call that place free?

Day 1060: It's Legal so it Must be Right

Just because something is legal doesn't make it right. Slavery was legal. Apartheid was legal. The Holocaust was legal.

Just because something is legal, doesn't make it right.

Day 1059: Nasty You, Nasty Me

We all have some deep, dark part of ourselves that only reveals itself in moments of extremity. Trying to suppress or deny those parts of ourselves only leads to inner conflict - the key to transcending the inner darkness is to embrace it.

Day 1058: A Change in Perception

We all see things differently. This can often place us at odds with, or at a greater distance from each other. What does it take to see things differently, from the eyes of someone who has lived a completely different life to you?
